Hi jmoorhead,

Thanks for posting on Microsoft Answers!

Did it ever work before on Windows 7 computer?
Do you have access to the other files on Windows Vista computer?

1. Run network printer troubleshooter and check.
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-vista/Troubleshoot-network-printer-problems

2. You may also try altering the Firewall settings to different levels and check.

3. Let us make sure you have installed Windows Vista drivers on the host machine. Download the drivers from manufacturers website.

With printer sharing, multiple computers on a network can use a single printer.
Sharing a printer requires a few steps. First, you'll need to turn on file and printer sharing, and then you'll need to share your printer. When other people want to use your printer, they can follow a few steps to add your printer to their computers.

Make sure you have shared the printer that is installed on Windows Vista computer.
Turn on file and printer sharing and share the printer.
Follow the link below for steps.

Now follow the document below to add the printer on Windows 7 Computer.
