I'm using windows 7 pro, trying to connect to a PPTP VPN, but I am getting an error 628 when I try to connect (it gets to 'registering your computer on the network' before the error message pops up). The VPN is configured exactly the same as it is on
my XP laptop.. the xp laptop connects fine, but win 7 gives the error. Both are on the same wireless LAN.
I've tried disabling the Firewall on win 7, and even on the remote PPTP server (a comcast small business SMC router / cable modem) for a trial or two, but it doesn't help with the error from win 7.
Any ideas what I am missing? Has the PPTP protocal in win 7 changed?

I have the same problem with you when I connect to my company vpn srv.(NT 4.0,PPTP) with my win7 laptop,
I solve the problem by select the data encryption type to "no" or "optional" other than default "require".
It works for me,good luck to you
