Q: Wired internet connection problem This thread is locked from future replies

I have Windows 7 on a brand new computer and it is connected to the internet through an ethernet cable to a westell router.  My internet connection appears to drop intermittantly.  (less than a second..then reconnects)  This becomes irritating because many times when I navigate to the next internet window it will say that I am not connected, but if I hit the refresh button the web page appears.  Is this a common problem with Windows 7?  I have performed some trouble shhoting my self to NO avail

I disconnected the ethernet cable and ran it wireless, but this did not change anything.  Any suggestions for further troubleshooting would be helpful

Try to take the Network cards out of the Power Saving loop.

In the Device manger right click on the entry for each card choose the Properties, and the Power Management tab.

Uncheck the Allow the computer to turn Off the device.

Also check the in the Router's DHCP configuration the lease length of IPs make sure that it is not too short (read the Router's manual).
