Is the Windows 7 Home Premium machine the client or are you trying to use it as a Remote Desktop [RDC] host? Keep in mind Windows 7 Home Premium can NOT act as a RDC host.

Yes the Windows 7 Home Premium is the RDC Host.

It functions fine as the host machine until I install Service pack 1. Then it quits working as a host.

By design Windows 7 Home Premium can not be a RDC host, ie. the computer you want to remotely access/control with RDC. Did you apply an unsupported hack that allows this prior to installing SP1 or are you confusing the RDC client (ie. the computer you use to remotely access/control a RDC host) with the host function?
