I have contacted McAfee to reinstall their software on my Windwos 7 system but I am unable to connect to McAfee to download using their DMSetup program. One of their service reps. indicated that the problem was with the hosts file. How can I correct this issue?
The message I receive is using their software installer is as follows:
Download Cannot Continue
Your McAfee software download cannot continue because either there's a problem with your Internet connection or the McAfee server is unavilable. To fix this, make sure your PC is connected to the Internet or wait for a few moment for the server to become available, then try again.
After looking at the replies I decided I needed to find a different way to resolve the issue since I was not convinced that the host file was at fault. I did find the host file and it looked like it was the original file which only had comment lines. I found that I had the original McAfee software to load the software without using the McAfee download program "DMSetup". I was able to install the software again and everything is working as it should. I will only know if everything is okay if the program is able to auto update which will take some time to find out. Thanks to everyone that replied. I may still use some of the advice.
