Hi mrcam,

In order to troubleshoot the issue better, please provide more information.

1.      How long have you been experiencing this problem?

2.      Have you recently installed or uninstalled any software or hardware?

3.      When exactly do you get this error message?

I would suggest you to follow these steps and check if the issue is fixed.

1.      Click Start, Run and type Services.msc

2.      Double-click the HomeGroup provider

3.      Set its Startup type to Manual

4.      Click Start to start the service

You may also check the dependencies service and check if the following services are running.

·        Function Discovery provider

·        HTTP

·        Remote Procedure Call

·        Dcom server process launcher

·        Rpc endpoint Mapper

·        Function Discovery Resource Publication

·        Network List service

·        Network Location Awareness

·        Network Store interface service

·        NSI proxy service driver

·        TCP\IP Protocol Driver

1.      Click Start, Run and type Services.msc

2.      Double-click the HomeGroup provider

3.      Choose dependencies tab and maximize all the services listed.

4.      Go to services and check if those services are running.
