Download fails, getting errror: the signature of this file is corrupt or invalid"

Original Title: every download corrupt even microsoft files

I've just about given up on trying to find an answer to this ERROR!

every time I try to download files from anywhere including Microsoft/windows 7 f all I keep getting is  "the signature of this file is corrupt or invalid"

this is even happening to Microsoft files.

I have looked at everything advised on Microsoft to try to solve this but nothing seems to work.

example today I tried to down loads a file to see if my computer would run windows 8 from Microsoft website and I got the same thing, I have done a full virus scan with M.S.E  nothing!

I am running windows 7 home premium 64-bit OS

Apologies if I have put this in the wrong area
