connecting to shared printer on windows 7 computers from 64 bit laptop to 32 bit desktop

I receive a "Logon failure: unknown user name or bad password" with Homegroup enabled on both computers and password protected sharing OFF.
Homegroup sees the new printer fromt he 64bit laptop, but clicking "install printer" does nothing.  Directly tryin tot install printer from a prot "//computername/printer" fails as well, with Logon failure message.

Any suggestions?
