WINDOWS LIVE MAIL WILL NOT SEND

I just got this computer (Acer 5534) and it is running Windows 7 OS.  I am using Windows live mail and everything was running fine for the first month or so.  Now I can not send any email.  I have been using verizon for several years with no problems.  Here is the error code I am getting.

A TCP/IP error occurred while trying to connect to the server.

That message means that the server outgoing.verizon.net is  not responding.  Most likely, your provider is experiencing an issue with their SMTP server.  I checked the Verizon instructions for mail servers and it looks like you're set up properly already.
