Question

Q: Firewall blocking file sharing

Came into the office today (two computers on the network) and one of the computers could not see the other on the network (it was not a problem the other way around). I went through some troubleshooting, and figured out it was the firewall on the one computer blocking access. The firewall is controlled by MacAfee virus protection. So, I turned off the firewall, and bingo, I cann now see each computer from both directions. The problem is now I don't have any firewall protection. Any reason the settings on the firewall would have been different today than they were yesterday, and how do I turn the firewall back on while allowing the file sharing to continue on as before over the network?

Answer

A:

Sounds like an issue with McAffee. Have you checked the McAfee support pages and/or forums?
MS-MVP Windows Desktop Experience, "When all else fails, read the instructions"
MS-MVP Windows Expert - Consumer
"When all else fails read the instructions"

Did this solve your problem?

Sorry this didn't help.
