Windows 7 will not output signal to DisplayPort

Hi,

I just bought a new LCD that accepts digital input (Fujitsu P24W-5 ECO), however, Windows 7 (64 bit) will only output signal throught the VGA cable.  The cable from DisplayPort (m) to DVI (m) will only result in the LCD recieving no signal and going into sleep mode.  Unfortunately I do not have access to another computer with the DisplayPort to check that the cable works, but I'm assuming for now that the cable is not the problem. I would very much like to take full advantage of the digital signal.

Laptop: Lenovo Thinkpad W500

Graphics Card: ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3400, Radeon HD 3650 and FireGL V5700 (Switchable Graphics Driver) with latest driver installed

Solutions I have tried:

-rebooting Windows with the LCD connected and on,

-not connecting until Windows has started,

-connecting the DisplayPort side first then waiting 10 seconds then connecting the DVI port to the LCD

-connecting while Windows is on, then turning on the LCD

Thank you for your help!

See Lenovo instructions, probably means your display port is not 'active' unless of course it means you need to use vga/dvi adapter
