Windows 7 -- Printer detect as scanner with USB connection

Are you receiving any error codes/messages? If you can include a screenshot of your Device Manager and Devices and Printer, that would be a big help.

The Printer model is HP Color LaserJet M180nw

I have attached several screenshot include both good one and issue one for Devices and Printers and Device Manager.

We appreciate your response. We recommend that you uninstall the printer driver and software then reinstall your printer. The issue might be caused by software conflict.

To uninstall a device by using Device Manager, follow these steps:

1. Start Control Panel, click Hardware and Sound, and then click Device Manager.

2. Expand the node that represents the type of device that you want to uninstall, right-click the device entry, and click Uninstall.

3. On the Confirm Device Removal dialog box, click OK to start the uninstall process.

4. When the uninstall process is complete, remove the device.

Note: On the Confirm Device Removal dialog box, click the Delete the driver software for this device option to delete the driver package that was used for the device.

Tried several times, but the Software uninstallation/re-installation did not help.

The only way to install the printer successfully is with wired connection, either by TCP/IP port or WSD port.

Since the issue still occur after reinstalling the printer, download and install the latest driver for your device from the manufacturer's website. You may also contact their technical support team for assistance on downloading and installing drivers from their site.

Let us know the status of the issue.

I am using the latest software from website.

And I called the manufacture for help, but they mentioned it's more system OS related as it works fine on Windows 10 and other Windows 7 laptop...

That's also the reason i try some luck to post on Microsoft Community, as i suspect some OS component related to USB printing/printer may corrupted.

Thank you for getting back to us. Since you've already downloaded the latest driver from the website, this issue might be caused by software compatibility. We'd like to know if the printer is working previously on this computer. If yes, what changes has been made prior to this issue?

To continue troubleshooting the issue, kindly uninstall the printer driver then download and install an older version of your device's driver from the manufacturer's website.

There is only one version software from manufacture website.

As I said before...this version goes wrong with issued PC from Day 1...

but working fine on other Win7 laptop or Win10...

It's weird...and I saw several similar complaints at HP's support forum as well. But no one understand what's the reason for this error.
