Win7 network adapter driver problem

Hello,

I'm installing win7  on my laptop and all goes well till I have to install my wireless driver which doesn't work no matter what. If I  upgrade to win10 it works fine, but  win10 is slowing down my computer so I can't install it.

Always when I install win7 I have the Broadcom driver to install the driver but it doesn't work anymore.

Anyone could help me ?

Hi Eduard,

We need more information for us to determine the correct resolution.

Is there any error message when you are trying to install wireless driver?

Can you visit your manufacturer's website to see if the drivers for Windows 7 are available?

Thanks.

I have done this a 100 times and the driver is good. I install it, it tells me that everything is ok just to reboot the computer. I reboot it and after still no wifi.

What is the make and model of the afflicted system?

If a Dell computer what is the Service Tag number?

Has the afflicted system EVER worked properly with Windows 7?

If the system was running Windows 10, how did it come to be running Windows 7 now?

Exactly what does "doesn't work" mean?

Exactly what does "no wifi" mean?

Do you mean no wireless networks are detected?

Do you mean wireless networks are detected and you can't establish a connection?

Since the afflicted computer (I guess) can't get on the Internet you can't copy/paste information, so see if you can do this and include it in your next reply:

From the afflicted system, click the Start button/orb in the lower-left corner of your screen. Or, press the Windows logo key on your keyboard.

In the box enter:

msinfo32

Select/click msinfo32.exe and the System Information dialog box will open.

Click on System Summary.

Tell us what is in the System Manufacturer and System Model fields, for example:

System Manufacturer    Hewlett-Packard
System Model    Presario V4000

Click the Start button/orb in the lower-left corner of your screen. Or, press the Windows logo key on your keyboard.

In the box enter:

devmgmt.msc

Expand Network adapters, right click the Wireless adapter, choose Properties, Driver tab.

What is the:

Driver Provider

Driver Date

Driver Version

Select the Details tab and in the drop down list choose Hardware IDs.

We need to know the VEN and DEV numbers.

In this example the VEN is 10DE and the DEV is 03EF:

What does yours say for VEN and DEV?

I hope you are working on the replies to the other questions...

If the system had Windows 10, how did you get it back to Windows 7?

Before you said you installed the driver now you say you can't install the driver for the network adapter.

Is this the driver you are using:

Describe exactly what happens when you attempt to install that driver.

I have uploaded yesterday a picture with the hardware ids but I don't know why is not here.

I try again now.

I have installed win7 over win10 buy formating the laptop.

I have selected from the drivers above the Broadcom wireless driver,  the Bluetooth is working fine.

That helps...

If that screenshot is the Properties of the afflicted component you can see that the VENdor is 168C and DEVice is 0032.

Take that info and go to pcidatabase.com and enter that in the Vendor and Device fields:

Click Search on the Vendor and you will see that it is an Atheros part number and not a Broadcom part number:

So on the Acer Driver Download Page you need to download and install the Atheros driver (only one choice):

Back on the pcidatabase page if you use the DEVice ID it will provide even more details:

Give that a whirl.

When I run a system check with the acer tool it was written  that I have a Broadcom adapter.

I always used it and it worked.

But anyway I installed the atheros one and still my network adapter is not instaled.

Could be the problem that the network adapter is giving wrong information about the driver and that's why the Broadcom driver cannot be installed?

I doubt it - even a Google search says:

So something is not adding up here...

There is no adjustment you canmake in Windows 7 to get this to work and since your issue really has nothing to do with Windows 7 (this community) and has everything to do with your Acer laptop why not ask in the Acer community and see what they have to say?

It could be that somebody there will recognize the problem instantly and solve it right away.

Then when you figure it out (like I'm sure you will) come back and tell us what you did to get it to work.
