Unable to adjust "record level" for sound recorder. Sound system works fine. Cannot find software that allows change to mic record level.

I want to increase the recording level for my sound recorder and can't find anything in the Windows 7 software that will allow me to do that. I know it's there somewhere because I set it at 50% during a recent troubleshooting session when it was at zero. Now I can't find that screen to increase it some more.
