Question

Q: Sound Issues with Windows 7

So I just recently updated to Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit from Windows XP.  Finally was able to get Windows to recognize my speakers, and when I play something the meters move so as to indicate sound is being recognized.  However, I can not get this sound through my speakers nor can I get it through headphones when I connect them directly to my computer.  The following are my computers specs:

Motherboard = Asus A8N32-SLI-Deluxe nForce 4

CPU = AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 3800+

Memory = 2 gigs

Sound Playback Device = Realtek AC'97

Graphics Card = Radeon X 1800

I have been reading fixes 2 days and nothing has worked.  I just reinstalled Windows 7 from a freshly formatted hard drive, have gotten the Windows updates.  I know they don't have drivers out for Windows 7 for my motherboard or sound card, any ideas here?

A:

I was able to figure out my problem.  My brother reminded me that I have a Sound Blaster Audigy card and Windows 7 wass not recognizing it.  So I went into BIOS and enabled the onboard sound, plugged speakers into motherboard instead of sound card and BLAMMO! we have sound.  Now to figure out how to get Windows to recognize my sound card.

Did this solve your problem?

Sorry this didn't help.
