Sony DCR-TRV520 Camcorder

I have a sony 520 camcorder and a hp presorio laptop..Cant get windown 7 home premium edition to recognize hardware. I am using a dv output to a usb port on laptop...Do i need sony drivers?

According to:

your cameras drivers are built into Windows 7. If you are running Windows 7 Starter Edition then you camcorder is not supported.

Streaming via USB is not suported under Windows 7.

I am using win 7 home premuim, mymovie maker does not recognize the camcorder to cap video... help.... do i need sony drivers downloaded  ?????

Forget Movie Maker for the moment.

When you connect your camcorder to your PC does Windows 7 successfully install drivers for it? Watch for the message in the ballon in the bottom right of your screen.
