When i send a fax from my computer using the fax system in W7, i get the message that the phone i was sending it to does not answer. the fax number i am sending it to works; i have established that. i have checked out my modem configuration, my phone line,
etc. all that works. I also notice that i receive no dial tone sounds from my computer, and no dialing of the number sounds. can you help me figure this out ...

·Are you able to send fax to other numbers apart from the number which results in “no answer”?
·Are you using any third-party online fax services, by chance?
Sometimes, "no answer" notification means that your fax machine did not receive a delivery confirmation signal from the other machine, so receipt was not verified.
In other words, it may have sent, but for one reason or another, the receiving machine failed to notify your machine that receipt was actually confirmed.
If your computer is having problems with a recently installed device or other hardware, try using theHardware and Devices troubleshooter
to fix the problem. It checks for common issues and makes sure that any new device or hardware attached to your computer was installed correctly.
You may also remove and add “Windows Fax and scan” service.

Note: Windows Fax and Scan would be listed underPrint and Document Services.
Uncheck Windows Fax and Scan and restart the computer to uninstallWindows Fax and Scan. Rechecking and restarting the computer would re-installWindows Fax and Scan.
