Reparing wia error code 1067 and wia appcrash

Recently installed HP Officejet Pro 8600 plus. Everything works fine except scan to computer due to WIA Service not starting automatically.

When you try to manually start I get error code 1067: "process terminated unexpectedly.  All other WIA dependency services are started.

I have gotten scan to computer to work several times, but when I turn off the PC or restart, WIA stops and cannot be restarted

You may manually modify the registry and check.
 
a. Click Start and type: regedit in the Search box.
b. Open the Registry Editor and navigate to the following entry:
 
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\stisvc
 
 
Double click Start entry and modify the value: dword:00000004
