Panasonic PV-GS31 MiniDV Video Camera not compatibility with Windows 7?

When I hooked up the camcorder to the FireWire port and put it in VCR mode, Windows 7 "beeps", the camcorder shows up in the device list accurately (Panasonic PV-GS31 MiniDV), HOWEVER-- the autoplay does not kick in and ask if I want to capture video (like it does in XP). 

With Movie Maker 2.6, the "Capture Video" option is not listed.



According to this Microsoft page the status is listed as unknown.

Thanks for posting in Microsoft answers!

Since the information is currently unavailable in the Windows 7 Compatibility Center, you may have to wait until the information for the same is updated. It may or may not compatible.

In the mean time, if the Video camera does get detected, you may try installing the drivers in Windows XP Compatibility mode.

Windows 7 also has a feature known as Windows XP Mode which lets you run older Windows XP business software right on your Windows 7 desktop.
