My USB printer is listed as an unspecified device and I cannot install a driver for it.

I have an HP Deskjet 5850 printer connected via USB cable to my new install of Windows 7 Pro 64 bit.  Under "Devices and Printers", under the sub-heading of "Unspecified", it displays as "deskjet 5800".  HP's website says to install it with the driver for the Deskjet 5600 which is provided in the OS.  I remove the USB cable from the computer and install the driver as specified.  I then have an item listed as "HP Deskjet 5600 (HPA)" under printers and faxes which connects to nothing, but when I re-install the cable, I get a separate "deskjet 5800" under unspecified devices again.  I can right click on it and get three options: create shortcut, troubleshoot, and properties.  None of these options allows me to reset the driver or download a new one.
