Hi,

1. Did you make any changes on the computer prior to the issue?
2. Do you receive any error message on the computer?

Method 1
Run the fixit from the following link and check:
Hardware devices are not working or are not detected in Windows
http://support.microsoft.com/mats/hardware_device_problems/en-us

Method 2:
Update the drivers for the scanner from the manufacturers website and check.
Update a driver for hardware that isn't working properly
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-IN/windows7/Update-a-driver-for-hardware-that-isnt-working-properly

Method 3:
You may disable the firewall and anti-virus installed on the computer and check.

Turn Windows Firewall on or off
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Turn-Windows-Firewall-on-or-off
NOTE: Turning off Windows Firewall might make your computer (and your network, if you have one) more vulnerable to damage from worms or hackers.
You may refer the following link to disable Antivirus software installed on your computer.
NOTE: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you shouldn't disable your antivirus software. If you're connected to the Internet or a network while your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks

1.       Yes. New laptop and restored files using carbonite. I don’t think I’ve scanned anything from this laptop since setting up the printer. However, all Brother all in one printer functions except for the scanner. Brother support said that after a couple of resets and restoring twain files that it’s an operating system registry error most likely. The computer sees the scanner (view scanners/cameras) but I simply can’t scan using the Brother control center function as I had been able to do on old computer. I can scan using the windows scan system though.

2.       Error message is a Brother error message (CC4-202-000000008) can’t fine the LAN (set up is wireless).

3.       Firewall was disabled.

4.       Uninstalled and reinstalled software twice.

no improvement
