The Wireless Mobile Mouse 3500 is a nano transceiver mouse, the 3600 is a Bluetooth. It did not help. The software does not see the 3600.

Any other thoughts?

Call Microsoft. They said they had a driver for the 3600 for WIN7 but, they wanted $150.00 for a service contract.

That seems harsh for a $24.00 Mouse.

I have followed all instructions and have failed to get the 3600 MS mouse to work on a Lenovo E560 running Windows 7 PRO.

          Would have thought MS would make a new mouse compatible to a new Laptop.

Thanx for trying.....will have to keep a useless mouse and be weary of Microsoft produces.

I had the same issue. Did not realise there is no Windows 7 driver for this bluetooth mouse 3600. Couldn't detect the mouse despite updating to the latest bluetooth driver from my laptop manufacturer. It detected as a bluetooth mouse and the connection was lost after shutting down the laptop and I had to remove the device and add a new bluetooth device everytime.

As my bluetooth module is part of my Intel wifi card, I deleted both the drivers for wifi and bluetooth. Downloaded the latest drivers from Intel and reinstalled driver. This time round, the bluetooth mouse was detected as a bluetooth low energy HID compliant mouse or something equivalent. Basically the mouse must be detected as a bluetooth 4 device. Thereafter I had no more issues connecting the mouse even after shutting down and restarting my laptop. Hope this helps.

I was able to get the mouse working on Windows 7 Professional x64.

My laptop is a 5-year old Lenovo Thinkpad X220. The built-in Bluetooth card only supports Bluetooth 3.0. Apparently this mouse requires Bluetooth 4.0, and is not backwards compatible with older versions of the Bluetooth standards. Luckily, a few weeks ago I ordered a Bluetooth card that comes with Lenovo Thinkpad X230 (FRU 60Y3303, cheap on eBay), that supports Bluetooth 4.0. It arrived just on time for my new mouse.

The mouse was detected as BluetoothMouse3600, paired without a problem, and works fine as a generic mouse. It's seen as "HID-compliant mouse" which is a basic HID mouse driver. There are no advanced options or features in the Mouse options (Control Panel), but it's still possible to use the horizontal tilt wheel with something like AutoHotKey. For example this AutoHotKey script makes tilting the wheel left/right go back/forward in Firefox:

WheelLeft::Send !{Left}
WheelRight::Send !{Right}

Bluetooth Mobile 3600 mouse does not work on Windows & 64bit. Microsoft has their information wrong on their website because it does state it works but it doesn't. It downloads drivers and never connects to Bluetooth on my laptop. I have Bluetooth 3.0 and someone else said you need Bluetooth 4.0 for it to work. I purchased this because it's from Microsoft and it should work with their operating system and it's a shame that it doesn't. A big waste of my time and now have to return it and need to purchase a different brand like Logitech.

Its really nice when you can't help anyone but post garbage links to the same link that everyone has seen. People know how to use Google and enter a mouse model number and tag at the end does no link. We all seen those links and it would be helpful if you knew something instead of having these links to information that's useless.

Most of these community help etc. is full of material that goes around the issue and there's no real Microsoft hardware engineer responding but some call center thinking there helping out but it's really sending you to product links that we all know how to get to and are totally useless. It does not surprise me anymore that a Microsoft product says it works on windows XP through windows 10 and it doesn't work on either windows XP or 7.

Thanks for nothing this time around beside people that know computers let people know why it doesn't work and not Microsoft that makes the product.

Hey Nick!

Have you read my comment? It most definitely works on Windows 7 x64, but it might depend on your Bluetooth adapter.  The mouse uses Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) which is part of the BT 4.0 standard. Pros - really long battery life, fast reconnect from standby, etc. Cons - it's not compatible with BT3.0 or lower.

I think it's Microsoft's fault for not making it very clear in the product description. They should put this info in big bold letters, and offer to download some tool that would check if your system is compatible - before you buy the product. An average consumer doesn't know about differences in BT version, she just know they have Bluetooth in their laptop/PC, and it is a "Bluetooth mouse", so it's intuitive to assume it should work, right? Turns out, it's not always true...

There is a reason Microsoft only list Windows 8 and up as compatible with that mouse: Microsoft didn't provide native support (drivers) for Bluetooth Low Energy in Windows 7 and below, it only appeared in Windows 8. It can work in Windows 7, but that depends on 3rd-party Bluetooth software (drivers) manufacturers, so Microsoft doesn't want to be responsible for testing their mouse with other manufacturers' software.

In my case, my laptop has a Bluetooth 4.0 module, with chipset by Broadcom. I've also tested an ASUS USB BT-400 dongle, also using a Broadcom chipset. So both of them work together with Broadcom's Bluetooth drivers (WIDCOMM). But I can't be sure if it can work with another brand of Bluetooth module/dongle.
