Question

Q: Microsoft Wireless Desktop 3000

I have just purchased and installed a microsoft Wireless Desktop 3000 onto my I7 Win 7 x64 system and am having quite a bit of trouble with both mouse and keyboard.

Intermittently the mouse becomes erratic and none responsive.  Also intermittently, and at not related times, the keyboard becomes erratic and drops maybe 1 in 3-4 characters as I type. This happens every 30 mins or so.

  • Both units have new batteries.
  • The receiver is about 3 feet from the units.
  • I have run the Fix-it troubleshooter.
  • I have checked in device manager for errors
  • I have re-booted numerous times
  • There are no radio devices nearby

It seems from what I can see in the forums that this may be a common problem with these units and Win 7 x64. Can someone confirm? Is there a fix

Quite disappointing for new equipment on a high spec machine.

There does not seem to be any meaningful response from Microsoft on this issue.

Three feet in which direction?

Do NOT plug the dongle into a USB port on the back of the tower.

It should either go into a front panel USB port or be on the end of a USB extension cable taking it's feed off one of the back ports..

Windows 10 Pro - Start10 - part of a local network which is a '3rd party optimizer-free' zone..
