In Windows7 Pro Windows TWAIN error

 I am no longer able to use any scanner.  When I originally loaded Windows 7 PRO  my scanner worked fine.  I have just replaced the old scanner with a new one and, even though the software with the scanner says it is compatable with  Win 7, when I attempt to use the scanner it comes up and then the app.fails with Windows error: "TWAIN failure".

Method 1: Uninstall and re-install the driver for the scanner again and check if it helps.
 

Step 1: To uninstall the driver follow this step:

You may uninstall the drivers from Device Manager and re-install the same again.

a. Click Start, type device manager in the Start search box and hit Enter.

b. Locate the device for which you need to uninstall the driver.

c. Right-click and select Uninstall. Also check the box for “Delete the driver software for this device” while uninstalling and follow the on-screen instructions.

d. Restart the computer, if prompted. 

Step 2: Install the latest driver again by downloading it from the manufacturer’s site and check if that makes things any better.

Method 2: Verify if the Windows Image Acquisition (WIA) service is started.
 
To do so, follow these steps: 
a. Click Start, type “services.msc” (without quotes) and press Enter.
b. Double-click Windows Image Acquisition.
c. Set the Startup type of Windows Image Acquisition to Manual.
d. Click Start to start the service. Click OK.
 
Restart the computer and check if the issue is fixed.
