IDE to SATA problem

Installed two ultra products IDE ti SATA two way converters on my IDE drives. My Intel DG41RQ motherboard, chipset g41, running Windows 7 doesn't recognize the drives. IDE works ok.
Tried various BIOS configurations without luck.

I have used the IDE to SATA converter before, but that was on older SATA I ports. I also tried to use them on newer SATA II chipsets and had the same problem you are having, and maybe this might be the answer you are looking for:

The SATA converters are a good concept for connecting IDE/EIDE or PATA CD/DVD drives to a SATA port. When connecting IDE/PATA hard drives using these converters, try to make sure that 1) you are not using them in a RAID configuration, and 2) that you set your SATA ports to compatible mode and not AHCI mode. There are protocols in the AHCI mode that the IDE/PATA connot understand such as Command Que.

Most modern chipsets (i.e. Intel, Nvidia or AMD) may not technically support "translator chips" for hard drives due to the fact that those translator chips internal clocking cannot sync properly with the motherboard's chipset clock, and that's when you get the drive not being detected. I know that when I used the converters on older motherboards, they worked fine because the older chipsets did not require such strict timing with peripherals, and CD/DVD burners/drives does not require strict tolerences and when the BIOS identifies the peripheral as such, the timimgs are loosened to accomodate the device.

My advice is 1)you just may have to use the drive(s) on the IDE port, or 2) get new SATA hard drives and use your IDE/PATA drive in an external enclosure.

Hope this info is useful.
