Hp Color Laser Jet 3600n stops printing with PCL XL Error.

Dell Optiplex 390 running Win 7 w/ SP1.


Message given is "Subsystem: Kernel, Error: MissingData, Operator: VendorUnique, Position: 26."


Can't reprint as Windows give error message that there are no printers and/or the Local Print Spooler and/or computer needs to be restarted.


Tried HP Forum. No help. Has anyone seen this? Ideas?

Please follow the steps mentioned below and get back to us with the results.


Method 1: Disable High Speed and other Advanced Features.


Every HP printer has an electronic control panel with several manual buttons on the printer itself. Go to the printer and perform the following actions:


a. Press the MENU key display the I/O MENU

b. Press the ITEM key until you see Parallel High Speed = Yes

c. Press the VALUE key to change the value to Parallel High Speed = No

d. Press the SELECT key until an asterisk is displayed as shown Parallel High Speed = No*

e. Press the ITEM key until you see Advanced Functions = On in the printer display

f. Press the VALUE key until the value changes to Advanced Functions = Off.

g. Press the SELECT key and until an asterisk is displayed as shown Advanced Functions = Off*


Try to print your document again. If it doesn’t fix the problem continue to the next step.


Method 2: Remove printer drivers from device manager.


Step 1:


a. Click on start button and type device manager in the search box and hit enter.

b. Locate the printer.

c. Right click and uninstall it.



Step 2: Also remove all the software’s related to printer from “programs and features”.




Step 3: Then restart the computer and try installing the printer.
