how do I stop the mouse cursor from jumping all over the screen

It is hard to type because the mouse cursor jumps all over the screen and opens other programs while i am typing.

I know that this is a windows 7 problem because I upgraded from windows vista ultimate.  this has been going on forever since i got windows 7.

My wireless mouse and keyboard always worked fine on vista ultimate. I have a wireless comfort Keyboard 1.0A and a wireless mouse 2.0.

I think that all the people at Microsoft should be able to come up with an answer to this problem.

this is totally rediculous.

Answer

Hi,

1.      Is it a laptop or desktop computer?

2.      Who is the manufacturer of the mouse?

3.      Were there any recent changes made on the computer prior to the issue?

Please try following the methods provided and update us with the results.

Method 1: Test the issue in Safe mode.

Try booting the computer in safe mode and check if the same issue occurs:

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Start-your-computer-in-safe-mode

Step 1:

If it works fine in safe mode, then try performing clean boot and check if it helps:

You can start Windows 7 by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This kind of startup is known as a "clean boot." A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts. This article describes how to troubleshoot problems in Windows 7 by performing a clean boot.

Please note: After the troubleshooting, make sure to boot your computer to normal mode by following the step 7.

Method 2: Uninstall and reinstall mouse drivers

I would suggest that you uninstall and reinstall the mouse drivers and check.

a) Open Device Manager by clicking the Start button.

b) Click Control Panel, click System and Security, and then, under System, click Device Manager.‌ If you're prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

c) Locate the entry for mouse and click on uninstall.

d) Restart the computer and download the latest drivers from the manufacturer.
