error message 5200 on cannon mp240

When I try to print  a document the printer goes through the motions like it is about to print and then it stops and I get error message 5200 on the screen.  The printer flashes the alarm light and P 8 flashes on the printer screen.

Method 1:

Open the Printer troubleshooter



Method 2:

This error is that your waste ink is full.

 Reset the printer. Press the reset button and hold it while it's off. Then, turn it on and press the reset button twice.

 This will bring it into maintenance mode. Here you can reset your waste ink pad. just follow the instructions and then press the reset button 4 times. Turn your printer on and off again and see if it helps.
