Error Code 1603

I have had this problem with 2 installations of W7. Both times it happened with my Mouse. First the mouse stopped working like I had it adjusted. It would act like a plain ole mouse. My Mouse is a Wireless Laser Mouse 6000. I get told that there is something wrong with my Mouse Software and it needs to be uninstalled and then reinstalled. When I go to install the Mouse Software it gets part way completed and I get this message. Nothing I do allows me to install. I have done the System Restore and still cannot do it. HELP, cause I don't want to reinstall W7 again.

Method 1: Remove earlier versions of the program, and then install the latest version

Step 1: Remove the program from Control Panel

Click Start, and type appwiz.cpl in the Start Search box, and then click appwiz.cpl in the Programs list.

If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type the password, or click Continue.

In the Currently installed programs list, determine whether an existing version of IntelliPoint is listed.

If an existing version of the program is listed, click the program entry, and then click Remove. Follow the instructions to remove the software.

If you are prompted, restart the computer.

Step 2: Download and install the latest programs or drivers for your hardware device

Note: Before you install the latest software, make sure that other programs are closed. In the lower-right corner of the desktop, right-click one icon at a
time to either disable the program or exit the program.

Install the IntelliPoint programs from the following Microsoft Web site:

http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/downloads/default.mspx  

Follow the rest of the steps from the KB article mentioned below:

Make sure you are installing the correct version. You can download the software from the links mentioned below:
