Are there external HD products that work with windows 7 backup using USB 3?

 My WD Elements fails with USB 3. Do other brands work? Aparently Windows 8 has fixed this bug but that doesn't help me. Is Microsoft addressing this?

Method 2: Try using the external hard drive on a different USB port and check.

 

Method 3: Try using the external hard drive on a different computer.

 

Method 4: Uninstall and reinstall all USB controllers, follow these steps:

 

a)    Click Start, type device manager in the start search box and press enter.

b)    Expand Universal Serial Bus controllers.

c)    Right-click every device under the Universal Serial Bus controllers node, and then click Uninstall to remove them one at a time.

d)    Restart the computer, and then reinstall the USB controllers.

e)    Plug in the removable USB storage device, and then test to make sure that the issue is resolved.
