external hard drive error

i'm having problems with a laCie external hard drive, when connected to my laptop it doesn't show up in my computer. it does show up in device manager however and in the boot menu. when i select the manage option in computer im told that i need to initiallize the disk, when i try to do this i get an error message saying incorrect function. i have been searching for a solution all day and cannot find one anywhere. can anyone help me????? would really appreciate it

Hello,

I had a customer a little while back that had a very similar issue. It turned out to be a compatibility issue with Windows 7. LaCie sent him a newer drive and it worked great. I cannot be sure that this is the issue with your drive, but it coulld be. He said taht the laCie support was very helpfull and nice to work with.
