Q: Unable to get certain USB devices to work after power failure.

I recently suffered a power failure while I was using the computer. After powering on again certain USB devices that used to work well before returned errors. All attempts to get these devices installed fail.

For example, when I plug in my Sennheiser USB Headset, the item is correctly identified by name but  I get the error "The drivers for this device are not installed (Code 28). This device did not come with drivers and before would plug and unplug it without problems.

When I plug in my Microsoft Transiever v3 for Bluetooth, I end up with "The drivers for this device are not installed" (Code 28). This item come with my Microsoft Wireless Mouse. When I try to reinstall the latest software, it is unable to detect this item. Before it used to work without problems.

My Logitech USB keyboard returns an error as well, yet a PS/2 keyboard works.

USB pen drives are working well.

I am under the impression that the device database got corrupted. Is there a way I can reinitialise it?

Have you considered using "System Restore"?

Did this solve your problem?
