Windows overwriting Linksys WMP300N wireless adapter driver with Broadcom 802.11n network adapter driver.

After installing drivers for a Linksys WMP300N pci wireless adapter, Windows is automatically overwritting it with newer Broadcom 802.11n network adapter drivers (that cause it to not work). How can I install the appropriate drivers and prevent Windows from changing them?

I tried using gpedit.msc to prevent automatic installation of drivers, but then that prevented me from installing the real drivers as well. Can I make a policy that would just prevent the Broadcom driver from installing?

You can uninstall the Broadcom, then go to WIndows Updates, ask it which drivers it thinks you should have and when it brings up the Broadcom, right click on it and HIDE the update.  It won't bother you again by offering it.
