Windows 7 cannot detect DVD/CD drive

Please Help!  My Averatec 4200 laptop was just upgraded to Windows 7.  The DVD/CD drive worked fine when I installed Windows 7, but for some reason it is no longer visable...anywhere.

Device Manager - Nothing
My Computer - Nothing
Hardware & Sound Troubleshooter - No device detected

I have tried everything I can think of.  The DVD player hasn't been removed physically and reinstalled.  Also, when I put in a DVD the player spins, but nothing is detected.

Please help!
