Brother Hl-820 and Windows 7 Driver Issue

I have a Brother HL-820 printer and have recently upgraded to Windoes 7.

With Windows Vista, I was able to select and use the Brother Hl-720 driver which comes preloaded in the Windows 'Install a Printer' driver list in the printer installation wizard. I am given to believe this is a result of Brother's work with Microsoft to ensure ongiong compatability.

Unfortunatly, the same trick does not seem to work with Windows 7, which states that it is unable to instal the 'kernal printer driver' and that I should contact the manufactur, Brother, who of course do not support the Hl-820s anymore.

Does anyone know if there is anyway to get this printer working again?

Many thanks

Hi Annoyboygm,

Welcome to Windows 7 Answers Forum!

This is a clear case where you need to update the drivers for your printer. If the manufacturer is not coming out with the updated driver to support the printer you can use your favorite search engine and get the updated drivers.

Also contact your manufacturer for the same.

You can also check in Windows 7 compatibility center if your printer is compatible with windows 7 or not.

Hope this information is useful.
