sound not working with ASUS A8R-MVP motherboard

I just upgraded from XP to Win7 64bit.  Running off an ASUS A8R-MVP motherboard.  The installation disc that came with the board will not run...assume it is incompatible with win7?  Drivers read as up to date, with a microsoft "High Definition Audio Device" listed as my only sound device and shows as up to date and working properly.  Have tried all built in troubleshooting and still no sound.  Speakers are hooked up and working, so it seems like a driver error.  Please help!!!!

You can not do an in-place upgrade from XP to Windows 7.  This is usually a custom upgrade which can be seen as a new full install.  Check with the ASUS web site for the correct sound card chip used.  It could be a Realtek HD sound chip.  You might be able to get the drivers from Realtek directly.
