I Can't rename folders on my USB drive. W7 crashes and reboots...

Hi, Here is the problem:
I open my USB drive from My Computer, add a new folder, right click it andselect rename.
after typing the new name, i hit wnter, then, Wham!!, W7 shuts down and reboots.  This is hapening with all USB drives I put into the PC.  Have I missed a setting or something in W7 that might be causing this?
When I whack the USB into my old PC running XP, no problems, I can add, rename folders no problem at all.  Just W7 won't do it.
Your help is greatly appreciaited.
Cheers.

Hi DigitalRush

·         Does the behavior occur even when you try to rename folder on the computer?

1.      Issue seems to be malware or virus activity. Scan the USB device, by right clicking on the drive and select scan with the anti-virus software installed on your computer

Run online scan. Below link will help you run free scan on the computer: http://onecare.live.com/site/en-us/default.htm

2.      Create a new user account and check if that helps. Here is the below link which will help you create User account: Create a User account: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/Windows7/Create-a-user-account

If the issue resolves in new user account then the old user profile is corrupt. Here is the link to fix a corrupted user account: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/Fix-a-corrupted-user-profile
