Question

Q: Windows 7 built in games not working

Original title: the games folder is missing games

My win7 folder is missing all the games except solitare. I went to the programs and features folders in control panel and went to turn on games. The box was filled in, but not checked. I found out that this means that not all features are on or available. I cannot click on the plus sign as it does not do anything for the games folder. What am I doing wrong?

Answer

A:

Hi,

·         Did you try check marking on Games folder in “Turn Windows feature on or off” windows and check if it opens?

·         Do you get any error message?

Method 1:

I would suggest you to try running System File Checker (SFC) on the computer and check if it helps.

To view how to perform the SFC Scan click on the link provided below and follow the Kb article steps.

Method 2:

I would suggest you to put your system in clean boot state and check if it helps:

Note: After troubleshooting, make sure to put the computer to start as usual as mentioned in Step 7 in the above KB article.

Method 3:

Disable and enable all the games using the “Turn Windows features on or off” feature.

Refer the following Microsoft article for more information:

Turn Windows features on or off

Note: Uncheck Games and restart the computer to disable the games. Re-check the same and restart to enable the games.

Method 4:

Also try creating new user account on the computer and check if issue persists.
