Glu bought Gamespy for $2.8 million in August 2012 while IGN had bought Gamespy in 2004 for $54.6 million. This financial depreciation pushed Glu to try and regain value. As a freeware mobile game maker for smart phones and tablets, Glu needed space on Gamespy so that it can power Glu games. By removing multiplayer servers (such as FSX) who refuse to pay the increase, Glu "thinks" it has grounds to remove the service while not realizing that it amounts to Blackmail or extortion.
For those looking to remain up to date with FSX online servers offered by other mediums, check out this website hosted by Boston Virtual ATC. It lists all online servers and VA's can give them their server IP to be listed as well. http://www.fsxbeyondgamespy.com/
