Right click "DIIIsetup.exe" and select "Run as administrator"

Very silly of the developers to leave such an obvious incompatibility for the customers to have to work out themselves.

Hi,

·        Do you have a CD to install or is it a download?

Seems like a source file or installation file corruption to me.

Step 1: If this is a download then try re-downloading the game and install. Uninstall the game or traces of it first before installing it again.

Delete a game

If this is a CD then check for the scratches or damages on it. Clean or wipe the CD with a clean cloth and attempt installing. See if you can download the game to install it.

Step 2: Check to see if you can install the game in a clean boot state.

a)      Click Start, type msconfig.exe in the Start Search box, and then press ENTER to start the System Configuration Utility.  If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password, or click Continue.

b)      On the  General tab, click Selective Startup, and then click to clear the Load startup items check box. (The Use Original Boot.ini check box is unavailable.)

c)      On the  Services tab, click to select the Hide all Microsoft services check box, and then click Disable all.

d)      Click OK, and then click  Restart.  Install the game to check if it goes fine.

Refer: How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7

Note: Make sure you put the computer back to Normal Startup once troubleshooting is completed.
