Windows 7- FIles in Desktop Folder do not appear on actual Desktop

I've had Windows 7 installed for a few months, haven't had a single issue with it until that last round of updates. After reboot, everything on my Desktop was gone, including the Recycle Bin. However, if I go to my Home directory, all of my files, links, Folders and Recycle Bin are still there. If I copy or drag something to the Desktop, it immediately dissapears, but, again is in my Desktop Folder.

I've tried everything I can think of and have found fixes for similar issues in Vista, but they do not work with Windows 7.

Maybe try to right-click on desktop, view and uncheck view desktop icons; then repeat and re-check the box. I had that happen before and that worked for me...
