Why can't I change the default program from command prompt?
I accidentally changed the default program for opening .py files (Python Scripts) to the command prompt, now I can't change it back even in the control panel, the check box is gray. Also I have tried the registry editor, I dont have the file NoFileAssociate.
If anyone could help that would be great!
This problems occurs when Windows thinks that the application already exists in the list. Changing the application's name can fix this problem. Please try the following if you would not like to rename python.exe
Method [1]: Using Registry to edit Application Associations CAUTION: It's recommended that you create a restore point before proceeding
From the Start menu, Insert the following and press ENTER: regedit.exe
Delete the following key
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Applications\python.exe
Thanks,
Have a great day :)
