If you are a photographer/video editor like my-self then this is enough of an issue to cause me to consider apple! I can not believe Microsoft was this idiotic! from what I have read it seams they set w7 up this way, this is unacceptable!!!!!!!!  I NEED MY THUMBNAILS INSTANTLY, IS THAT TOO MUCH TO ASK? For God's sake even XP was better programed.

Hi,

You can try the following methods

Method 1:

I would suggest you to rebuild the thumbnail cache.

Before starting make sure you are logged on as an Administrator.

Then follow these steps:

a. First, turn off thumbnail creation by opening Windows Explorer, clicking the Organize button and selecting Folder and Search Options.

Click on the View tab and check Always show icons, never thumbnails. Click the OK button.

b. Then, run Disk Cleanup on Drive C: and empty the cache so you can recover the disk space. You can find it in Accessories | System Tools. Place a checkmark next Thumbnails and click on OK.

Click Delete Files button on the confirmation window. Disk Cleanup will now clear the thumbnail cache and close.

Note: This will delete the thumbnails database file and upon restarting the computer it will create it automatically.

Method 2:

Create a new user account check the status.

If it works in a new user account, then you can consider the old user account as corrupt. You can check the link below on how to ‘Fix a corrupted user profile’

Did this solve your problem?

Sorry this didn't help.

Great! Thanks for marking this as the answer.
