How do I have the directory show my file extension when listing the files in a given folder?


It will show many - but Microsoft decided - for some reason - to hide extensions of some files many years back by default.  I guess it was the whole "Apple" attitude - where the end-user really usually doesn't understand or need it - so why show them too much 'behind the scenes' and confuse or frighten them?
