How to search for file content in Windows 7

Hi All,

In Windows XP it is possible to define a search to find a string in the *content* of a file.  For example find all the files with the word 'aardvark' in them.  In Windows 7 this appears to be impossible.  Why has such a *vital* function been dropped?  If it hasn't been dropped why have Microsoft hidden it?  I am aware of the alleged 'fixes' for this issue online, but they do not work, so I'm left wondering why the simple option of 'Search for files containing' has been deleted.

Hi CeltiKaos,

 

To find "phrase in the file” type content:"phrase in the file" in the search box.

 

However, the search option in Windows explorer searches including all those options which were as advanced option in windows XP. You may refer the below links to know more about search:
