how to remove chkupd

I run Windows 7. During the past two weeks, whenever I start the system I get a dropdown window asking what program to use to open CHEKUPD.  It is annoying and I have not been able to delete or remove it permanently. It does not appear in Safe Mode. Is there a fix for this problem?

How to fix chkupd open with popup error fix!

You have to read the (full name) of the file.

step (3) click on tools & select startup

step (4) click on scheduled task

step (5) look for the chkupd file & select it. See if the file looks something like this, or similar: (ProgramUpdateCheck Trusted Software ApS C:\Program Files (x86)\File Type Assistant\TSAssist.exe /chkupd).

step (6) click on the disable butten at the top right corner of window, close all programs restart your computer and that's it!..........wallah.

Trailed through a lot of discussion boards using autorun etc could not find file but using ccleaner was simple and the advice about the full file name was essential. Thankfully did not go through the hassle of using loads of malware when it was clearly unnecessary - its the equivalent to the advice, have you turned it off and on. Thankyou this was annoying!
