how to copy every file attribute in a folder to another file attribute

I like to copy every file attribute of every files inside a folder to another file attribute of same files.

For example, I have a large groups of files of mp3 songs in a folder with different artists. I want to copy the "Contributing artists" attribute to the "Album artists" attribute for each file inside this folder. How can I do this without modifying every property of each file entry. Thank you.

Answer
Answer

Many MP3 players, such as iPod, select and play music based on the music's file attribute, such as album, album artist, contributing artist, genre, rating, title, date last modified, ... etc.

So, we tried to copy available file attributes into MP3 player using attributes. So, far, no luck to do this.

Hi young707

I think there is some confusion in your description. In Windows when you say a files Attributes, this typically means things such as,Read-only,Hidden,Archive,System, etc.

What you are describing is the files Tags or Details.

Windows does not support this type of changes for MP3 files. However, like Manasa stated, there are 3rd party applications, many are free, that are made specifically to accomplish what you are asking.

Use you favorite search engine and search for  "mp3 file" "change" "details"  (including the quotes) and you will get a ton of hits for this type of application. Here is a link to one I found, just to give you an example.

Mp3 tag editor Tag&Rename

Note: Using third party software is at your own risk. These programs are not supported by Microsoft.

Regards,

Thank You for using Windows 7
