Can't remove a folder because it's "not there".

Star t>PC User >Downloads = a folder called "FW_".  This folder is set at zero bytes and cannot be deleted.  I have clicked delete and a message appears saying, we cannot locate the item.  I have tried everything to have this removed.  It's been on my computer since the 21/1/2011.  Thus, even restarting the computer doesn't work.  Any advice on what to do?

Hi,

You tried in Safe Mode and used those utilities? Some of them will Delete the
file before Windows loads.

Hi,

Here are easy ways to Take Ownership and Grant Full Admin Control

Add "Take Ownership" to Explorer Right-Click Menu in Win 7 or Vista
http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/add-take-ownership-to-explorer-right-click-menu-in-vista/

Take and Grant Full Control Permissions and Ownership in Windows 7 or Vista Right Click Menu

You can try in Safe Mode - repeatedly tap F8 as you boot.

Logon as ADMIN.

If Safe Mode does not help (and it might) try these.

UnLocker 1.90 - Free - Author's Site - be sure to get correct 32 or 64 bit versions
http://ccollomb.free.fr/unlocker/  <--- site has issues

Unlocker 1.90 - Free - be sure to get correct 32 or 64 bit versions
http://www.softpedia.com/progDownload/Unlocker-Download-68439.html <-- Download UnLocker here

I would not install the BING Toolbar or the Ebay option unless you really want them.

Download - SAVE - go to where you put it - Right Click on - RUN AS ADMIN

The below also work on 32/64 bit Vista

Another good alternative - Use FileAssassin :

FileAssassin - Free
http://www.malwarebytes.org/fileassassin.php

Force Delete (Cannot Delete) Locked or In Used Files or Folders with FileASSASSIN
http://www.mydigitallife.info/2008/12/27/force-delete-cannot-delete-locked-or-in-used-files-or-folders-with-fileassassin/

Download - SAVE - go to where you put it - Right Click on - RUN AS ADMIN

And this - MoveOnBoot

MoveOnBoot

Hope this helps.
