unable to connect to email server

When I initially attempt to go online to e-mail I receive this error message

Unable to send or receive messages for the pop server ec.rr.com account. The host pop server ec.rr.com could not be found. Please verify that you have entered the server name correctly.

Windows Live Mail Error - ID 0x800ccc0D

Protol POP3

Secure (SSL) No

Socket Error - 11004

If I then go to "Tools " and click on "Synch all e-mail accounts" after the second or third time I click on it I am able to connect.

My internet provider, Time Warner, assures me it is a problem with Windows Live Mail.

Any suggestions?

Answer

You have probably entered the server name wrongly. Because you transcribed the error message instead of copying and pasting it, we can't see what's wrong. From RR's help pages:

The outgoing (SMTP) mail server address is:

smtp-server.ec.rr.com

The incoming (POP3) mail server address is:

pop-server.ec.rr.com

Right-click on the account name in the folder pane and select Properties. Make the change on the Servers tab.

If this doesn't help, please click on the error message to select it, then use right-click to copy it and paste it into your reply.
