Weather gadget error: "Cannot connect to the service".
Original Title: Gadgets
Is there a problems with gadgets on the desktop? I have the weather on my desktop its acting weird. I removed it then add it again. Now it says: cannot connect to service.
If step 1 fails then, you can try to change the Local Area Network (LAN) settings and check if it helps.
1. Click Start, type “inetcpl.cpl” (without quotes) and press enter to open Internet Properties.
2. Click the Connections tab.
3. Under “Local Area Connections (LAN) settings, click “LAN settings”.
4. Uncheck “Automatically detect settings” and other two check boxes for proxy server and automatic configuration script, if it is selected.
5. Click Ok two time and then check if the issue persists.
Step 3:
Sometimes Windows Firewall or any third party firewall (if installed) and antivirus software can cause this issue. Temporarily disable them and check
if it helps.
Warning:
You should not turn off Windows Firewall unless you have another firewall enabled. Turning off Windows Firewall might make your computer (and your network, if you have one) more vulnerable to damage from worms or hackers.
Warning:
Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you shouldn't disable your antivirus software. If you have to temporarily disable it to install other software, you should re-enable it as soon as
you're done. If you're connected to the Internet or a network while your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.
Hope this helps. Let us know if you need further assistance.
